8hertz is jewellery formed from phrases of intimate communication. A recording of an individual’s voice is translated into a unique three-dimensional form, capturing every nuance, subtlety and accent. The piece is then realised in precious metal in order to capture the moment in a timeless, durable icon representing the unique nature of human interaction.

This was work done whilst studying IDE at the Royal College of Art. Our group, 1234lab, worked around the concept of sound as a starting point for design experiments and 8hertz was one of the outcomes. I developed the algorithm to take audio recordings and turn them into physical manifestations. Strangely, our old web address is now an automotive blog.

Crafts magazine in the UK ran a cover story on the work - it is available to read here
